The Center for Interprofessional Learning and Care in Health (CAAIS) was established in 2022 to promote interprofessional education and collaborative healthcare practice at FPS. The center integrates teaching, research, and community engagement by providing interprofessional learning experiences for students from all health programs while delivering comprehensive care to socially vulnerable communities. CAAIS also supports the development and evaluation of innovative educational strategies and contributes to scientific evidence in interprofessional education, reinforcing FPS’s commitment to social accountability, collaborative practice, and person-centered care.

The Simulation Center (CSIM) is the first simulation program outside the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein to be affiliated with its Center for Realistic Simulation. Designed to replicate real healthcare environments, CSIM features advanced simulation rooms that reproduce operating theaters, emergency departments, and hospital wards using state-of-the-art equipment and high-fidelity patient simulators. All simulation-based learning activities are guided by trained facilitators, providing students with realistic, safe, and evidence-based clinical training experiences.

The FOZ Center for Health and Education Innovation was established in 2019 by Faculdade Pernambucana de Saúde (FPS) to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and applied research in health and education. In partnership with the Professor Fernando Figueira Institute of Integral Medicine (IMIP), FOZ supports startups through an innovation ecosystem that includes FPS’s teaching clinics and IMIP as a real-world environment for validating innovative solutions. The center promotes the development of evidence-based technologies and strengthens the connection between research, education, and healthcare practice.

The Farma FPS Teaching Pharmacy provides students with hands-on learning experiences in pharmaceutical compounding and production under the supervision of licensed pharmacists and laboratory technicians. The facility integrates education, research, and professional practice, supporting the preparation of customized medications and aromatic cosmetic products while developing students’ technical skills in pharmaceutical care and compounding.

The Fisio FPS Teaching Physiotherapy Clinic, currently in its final stage of development, will provide supervised clinical training in pediatric physiotherapy, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, hydrotherapy, and women’s health. The facility will also include a gait analysis laboratory to support clinical assessment and education. Its services will be offered free of charge to the surrounding community, reinforcing FPS’s commitment to community engagement and socially accountable healthcare education.

The Odonto FPS Teaching Dental Clinic is the institution’s teaching clinic for dental education and patient care. Equipped with 30 dental operatories and advanced technologies, including laser dentistry, the clinic provides comprehensive oral healthcare services for patients of all ages while offering supervised clinical training for students. Services are available to the general public, with free dental care provided to the surrounding Tijolos community as part of FPS’s commitment to social accountability and community health.

At FPS, social accountability is a core institutional value that shapes education, research, and community engagement. The institution understands social responsibility as a long-term commitment to improving the quality of life of the communities it serves while preparing future health professionals to address real societal needs through ethical, collaborative, and person-centered practice.

This commitment is grounded in a territory-based approach that fosters shared responsibility and sustained partnerships with neighboring communities, particularly Tijolos, Tijolinhos, and Rua da Linha. These partnerships began with active listening, dialogue, and community-based needs assessments, providing the foundation for FPS’s Social Accountability and Extension Policy. Today, these communities serve as essential partners in teaching, research, and outreach activities, ensuring that learning is driven by local priorities and that academic knowledge is translated into meaningful social impact.
