Nothing about us, without us: Partnerships in Health with and for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Autism, and Behavioral Health

The Woods System of Care, a leading network of healthcare organizations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, USA, dedicated to providing lifelong care and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), autism, and behavioral health challenges, has joined forces with The Network: Towards Unity for Health (TUFH)—an official non-state actor of the WHO—and the Mollie Woods Hare Global Center of Excellence. Together, they are proud to present the IDD, Autism, and Integrated Behavioral Health Summit 2027.

Despite advances in healthcare, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), autism, and other behavioral health conditions continue to experience significant health inequities, barriers to care, and limited inclusion in decisions that affect their lives. Addressing these challenges requires moving beyond traditional models to embrace meaningful collaboration across sectors and disciplines.

This summit explores how co-creating solutions with people with lived experience, families, communities, interdisciplinary professionals, and public and private sector partners can transform healthcare, education, research, and policy. Through authentic partnerships that value diverse perspectives and shared expertise, participants will examine innovative approaches that promote equitable participation, improve health outcomes, and strengthen health and human services systems. Together, we can reimagine health systems that are more inclusive, responsive, and effective, at the local and global levels, for the individuals, families, and communities they serve.

Further details on the IDD, Autism, and Integrated Behavioral Health Summit programme, speakers, sessions, and agenda will be announced in the coming months as part of the overall TUFH 2027 Conference Programme. We look forward to welcoming participants from around the world to contribute their expertise, experiences, and innovations as we work together to advance equity, strengthen leadership, and inspire collective action for women’s health across the life course.
