Recife/Guararapes–Gilberto Freyre International Airport (IATA: REC)

To come to TUFH 2027, participants should fly to Recife/Guararapes–Gilberto Freyre International Airport (IATA: REC). This is one of the busiest airports in Northeast Brazil and an important hub for domestic and international travel.

The airport is conveniently located approximately 2 km from the conference venue and around 5 km from Boa Viagem, where many recommended hotels are located.

Transportation options from NAIA to the conference venue

Taxi & Ride-Hailing (Fastest & Easiest)

These options are the easiest for travelers as you will be transported directly from the airport to your hotel.

Ride-Hailing Apps:

These apps are available in Manila with Grab, Joyride, and inDrive being the more popular options. Most apps are available in both the local Android Play Store and Apple App Store. Note that Uber does not operate in the country. Also note that some ride-hailing apps offer an option for motorcycle rides which may not be ideal when carrying heavy luggage.

Estimated costs is around ₱300–₱600, depending on time of day and dynamic or surge pricing.

Regular Taxi: Available at designated taxi bays in all NAIA terminals. Fare usually ₱300–₱500 (USD 5–9), depending on traffic.
Airport Coupon Taxi: Fixed rates, more expensive but safer and more reliable (₱600–₱900).

Airport Bus (Cheapest)

UBE Express or the Airport Bus offers a point-to-point bus service from NAIA Terminal 3 to various locations in Metro Manila. One of the stops is Robinsons Place Manila which is only a short ten minute walk to the conference venue. Please note that only NAIA Terminal 3 has a stop and you will have to transfer to this Terminal if you want to take the bus. Travel time is estimated at 1–1.5 hours (depending on traffic). Fare is currently ₱150 (as of September 2025).

Bus & Train Combination

You may opt to use various options for public transportation. You may take a bus from the airport to the EDSA-Taft LRT-1 station then take a train from the station Pedro Gil station and take a short walk to the conference venue. This option is more cost effective but takes longer travel time. Estimated cost is around ₱50–₱80 and estimated travel time is around 1.5–2 hours.

 Please note that these transportation options are usually full and may not be convenient for those carrying much luggage.

Private Transfers / Hotel Shuttle

Several hotels may offer airport pickup services. Rates usually range from ₱1,000–₱1,500 per vehicle.
